National Black Historyis dedicated to continuing the visionary work of our forefathers, as lead by Booker T. Washington. We build on the rich heritage of achievements of the Colored Merchants Association (CMA), and the National Negro Business League (NNBL) both founded in 1900 by the Honorable Booker T. Washington.

Washington's philosophy

Washington's philosophy, often called the "Atlanta Compromise," emphasized economic advancement and education rather than immediate civil rights.

In a world where division often overshadows our common humanity, we stand united as members of the justice and prosperity party, committed to fostering an inclusive and participatory democracy, guided by the belief that every voice matters and that through respectful dialogue, informed debate, and collective action, we can create a political society that reflects our shared values of justice, equality, and opportunity for all.


Our mission is to bridge divides and build a community where decendence of formally enslaved person are empowered to contribute to the political discourse. We pledge to support one another, to learn from one another, and to stand together in the pursuit of independent political representation for our community.

Madam C.J. Walker

(1867-1919)

In 1905, Walker began selling her hair care products door-to-door, and her business quickly grew. She adopted the name "Madam C.J. Walker" and expanded her line to include shampoos, hair straighteners, and other beauty products. She also trained other black women to become sales agents, empowering them to achieve financial independence.

George Washington Carver

(circa 1864 – January 5, 1943)

George Washington Carver was a prominent African American scientist, inventor, and educator known for his work in agricultural science and his promotion of crop rotation and alternative crops to cotton, such as peanuts, sweet potatoes, and soybeans. His contributions greatly aided the agricultural economy of the southern United States.

Marcus Garvey

(1887-1940)

Marcus Garvey's self-determination and self-reliance economic movement, often referred to as Garveyism, emphasized the empowerment and upliftment of Black people through economic independence and self-sufficiency. Central to Garvey's philosophy was the idea that Black communities should rely on their own resources and capabilities to build and sustain themselves.

Justice and Prosperity Party, has developed a framework emphasizing its commitment to an aggressive economic philosophy that prioritizes building economic alliances to support economic prosperity opportunities, as well as justice for all.

   National Negro Business League

The National Negro Business League (NNBL) was founded in 1900 by Booker T. Washington, the prominent educator, author, and leader. The (NNBL) was established to promote the interests of African American businesses and entrepreneurs at a time when they faced significant challenges.

   Colored Merchant Association (CMA)

Colored Merchants Association (CMA) marked a significant milestone in the history of African American entrepreneurship and economic empowerment. The organization was founded in 1900, by Booker T. Washington at a time when African Americans faced widespread discrimination and limited opportunities for business ownership and success.

Key achievements of the CMA was it aim to educate its members on business practices, financial management, and marketing strategies to help them succeed in a competitive market.

   Winston-Salem National Negro Business League

In the spring of 1929, representatives of the National Negro Business League—which Booker T. Washington had started in 1900 at Tuskegee Institute—traveled to Winston-Salem to help the African American grocers organize.
